Clear Aligner Solutions in WestLake Dental Care

Potomac, Ashburn See-Through Treatment

While braces have been around for centuries, clear aligners are a relatively new development in the world of orthodontics. Clear aligners are sets of clear, plastic trays that fit over your teeth and progressively move them into alignment. They are quickly moving to be one of the most popular and effective dental alignment treatments in the industry today because they are nearly invisible when worn, much more comfortable than braces, and can be removed for eating and cleaning. At WestLake Dental Care, we are proud to offer our patients clear aligners from Invisalign®, one of the leading brands in the industry.

Procedure Details:

What Are Clear Aligners?

Clear aligners are made of a clear, plastic material that is virtually invisible when worn. They are custom-made to fit your unique smile and gently move your teeth into alignment over time. Because they are removable, you can take them out to eat and brush your teeth, making them much more convenient and comfortable than traditional braces.

The Clear Aligners Process

The process of getting clear aligners is fairly simple, and we've outlined it below so you know exactly what to expect:

Assessment. The first step is to come in for a consultation so we can assess your individual case and determine whether or not clear aligners are the best treatment option for you.

Impressions. If we determine that clear aligners are the best course of action, we will then take impressions of your teeth so we can create your custom-made aligners.

Receive Aligners. Once your aligners are ready, you'll come into our office to pick them up and we'll give you instructions on how to use them.

Wear Aligners. You will need to wear your aligners for at least 20-22 hours per day in order to achieve the best results.

Change Aligners. Every two weeks or so, you'll come in for a check-up and we'll give you a new set of aligners to continue your treatment.

Achieving Your Desired Results. After wearing your aligners for the prescribed amount of time, you'll achieve your desired results and have a beautiful, new smile!

Do Clear Aligners Hurt?

Most people don't experience any pain when they first start wearing clear aligners. However, you may feel a slight amount of pressure or discomfort as your teeth begin to shift into place. This is perfectly normal and should go away after a few days. If you continue to experience pain, we advise taking over-the-counter medications and contacting our office if you have any concerns.
