Dental Implant Repairs and Replacement in Sterling, VA

Potomac, Ashburn Implant Repairs

Dental implants are meant to last for 20 years or more. However, in some instances, this is not possible. A tooth can become chipped, cracked, broken or lost within seconds. Fortunately, at WestLake Dental Care, we offer dental implant repair and replacement services for these instances. Learn more about how we can restore your smile and keep your implants looking beautiful for years to come.

Procedure Details:

Types of Dental Implants

A dental implant is essentially a titanium rod screwed into the jawbone with a permanent porcelain crown put on the top. It can help to restore both function and physical appearance of a tooth. There are different types of dental implants that are used depending on the patient and their specific needs. These include:

The Implant Repair and Replacement Procedure

If your dental implant has been damaged in any way, the process will depend on the case. This is because the repair process is a little different compared to the replacement process. Below is the step-by-step process our WestLake Dental Care staff will follow when aiding a patient with repair and replacement treatment:

Assessment. The dentist will have to assess the situation when you come in, and create a custom treatment plan from there. If certain parts of the implant are still intact, they will likely be reused.

Crown Replacement. If it is only the crown that has been damaged, then this means that the titanium rod is still fully functioning in your jawbone. The dentist will need to put an abutment on, and connect the new crown to the abutment.

Implant Replacement. If the titanium alloy rods have been damaged, you will need to basically get a whole new dental implant. This involves screwing in a new rod, putting on an abutment, and then a new crown.

Increasing the Longevity of Your Implants

When a client properly takes care of his/her dental implants, they can last for 20 years or longer. However, this means that a patient must brush and floss their teeth, including the implant, twice a day. Professional dentists also recommend that a patient utilize a non-abrasive toothbrush and toothpaste, to minimize long term damage.

Emergency Dental Care at WestLake

Oftentimes, when a patient needs a replacement or repair for their dental implant, it is an emergency situation. At WestLake Dental Care, we offer our patients emergency services. We want our patients to be able to depend on us, no matter what time of day it is or what the dental emergency is. If you think that you need a repair or replacement for your dental implant(s), contact us as soon as possible. We’ll have you fixed up and out the door in no time!
